La Casa di Rossini

"Non c'è niente da vedere"
So says the doorman at Rossini's house in Naples.

We're on holiday here - vedi Napoli e poi muori and all that - and quite fittingly we stumble across the Barbaja villa whilst following our stomachs to pasta. It was to here that, at the tender age of 23, Rossini moved after being appointed musical director and house composer at the Teatro San Carlo. And it was here in these rooms that he created much of his masterpiece Il barbiere di Siviglia, which I'll be singing next year.
