Sojourn with Santuzza

It's an unseasonably warm February day in Saxony, and my pianist Thomas Gläser and I are inspired to record a bit of heart-on-sleeve verismo. Santuzza's aria from Mascagni's archetypal Italian opera Cavalleria rusticana about a fallen woman, jilted by her lover and convinced she is now damned, is the perfect choice to transport us. Afterwards, the burnt espresso spluttered out of the vending machine in the corridor brings us back to earth, but who knows where we might travel tomorrow.
